Record breaking May sunshine for 1st cut silaging

At the end of May, most of the public were making the best of the Spring May sunshine in gardens and local parks.

For us, it proved the perfect conditions to complete our '1st cut' of silaging this year. For those unfamiliar with these terms, this is where we mow our grass and then store it undercover for our cattle to eat over the winter months. We must thank our reliable contractors D and D Wallbank and their hardworking team for their efficient service.

Our first crop is now complete so these fields are now left to grow again. We are hoping for a good amount of rain in the next few weeks to help the grass grow again so we can repeat the process. It is incredibly important for us to collect and store the right amount and quality of grass over the summer months so that our cows can have the best feed for the rest of the year.

We will keep you updated on our silaging process over the summer.
